The challenge
Where the project started
Long Plain First Nation wanted to explore what a community greenhouse could look like, but needed to understand what was viable before committing money to a structure or a system.
What we did
How LGTC helped
Long Plain First Nation contracted us to lead a Phase 1 project. We showed the community what options there are for development, conducted market research, submitted grant applications, created financial projections and introduced them to the right industry partners.
We also hosted the first ever Indigenous Food Systems Event with the Canadian Produce Marketing Association, raising $25,000 in funding for the event from key members in the greenhouse industry.
The results
What it achieved
$1,000,000 Secured in grant funding for Phase 2 of the development.
$25,000 Raised for the Indigenous Food Systems Event by key members in the greenhouse industry.
